  33. There are two possibilities how to install the WindowsNT drivers:
  34.  
  35. 1) From WindowsNT SETUP program (standard installation)
  36. 2) form SPEA V7SETNT program    (quick installation, update; prefered)
  37.

  39. 1) Installation from WindowsNT setup program (standard installation)
  40. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  41. - Run WindowsNT, loggin as "Administrator" and run the WindowsNT Setup.
  42.  
  43. - WindowsNT now displays the current system configuration. 
  44.   To install the SPEA BigwinNT driver, choose 'Change System Settings' from 
  45.   the 'Options' menu in WindowsNT Setup.
  46.  
  47. - Select 'Display' and scroll until 
  48.  
  49.   <Other> Insert disk 
  50.  
  51.   appears and enter the drive or path that contains the BigwinNT.
  52.   NOTE:
  53.   You can copy all files of the diskette into a directory on your harddisk
  54.   and enter the complete path to that directory instead of the drive letter.
  55.  
  56. - Select via OK the "SPEA V7 BigWinNT" driver and leave WindowsNT setup
  57.   program.
  58.  
  59. - Reboot your system. You will see while booting the SPEA/V7 startup logo.
  60.   Login again as ADMINISTRATOR
  61.  
  62. - Change in the Program Manager to File-Run menu. Insert the disk with the  
  63.   SPEA V7 BigWinNT drivers once again in drive A: and enter:
  64.      A:\V7SETNT
  65.   or enter the complete path to the directory with all BIGWINNT/V7SETNT
  66.   files if you followed the NOTE.
  67.   Now the programm V7SETNT will copy itself and all neccessary software
  68.   components on your hard disk into directories \WINNT, \WINNT\SYSTEM32 and
  69.   \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. After copy task V7SETNT will be started.

  71. - V7SETNT will install BIGNTS3 with default settings 640*480*256 colors
  72.   press the OK button and let your system shutdown and restart.
  73.  
  74. - After rebooting you have to login again as administrator.
  75.   A new program manager group named SPEA V7 (Common) is installed.
  76.   It contains a program icon for V7SETNT. The menu of V7SETNT is 
  77.   automatically coming up when you have loged in.
  78.  
  79. - Now follow the program V7SETNT analog to the description in your
  80.   documentation of the program V7SETUP. Select the resolution that you
  81.   desire. Please use also the on-line help of the V7SETNT program to get
  82.   information how to configure your system.

  84.   ATTENTION: You may damage your monitor, if you select a refresh rate which
  85.              is to high for your monitor. Please consider the abilities of 
  86.              your monitor when selecting a driver and its refresh rate.

  89. 2) Installation via SPEA V7SETNT program (quick installation, update):

  91. - Be sure that the standard VGA driver is running on your WindowsNT system.
  92.  
  93. - Start WindowsNT and login as "Administrator".
  94.  
  95. - Change to program managers menu File-Run and enter:

  97.   A:\V7SETNT
  98.  
  99.   if your floppy drive with the SPEA/V7 install diskette is in drive a:
  100.  
  101. - V7SETNT will install BIGNTS3 with default settings 640*480*256 colors,
  102.   press the OK button and let your system shutdown and restart.

  123. 1) During first installation the driver will be installed with the 
  124.    lowest possible refresh rate at the chosen resolution.
  125.    If you use a high-class multi-sync monitor and you choose a
  126.    resolution 1024x768 and above, synchronisation problems may occur.
  127.    To prevent this, please choose at first the resolution
  128.    640x480. Afterwards you can change to the preferred resolution and
  129.    refresh rate with the utility V7SETNT, which appears automatically 
  130.    when starting WindowsNT after the first installation of BigWinNT.
  131.  
  132. 2) Attention: Connect a mouse to your computer. V7SetNT is not a
  133.    keyboard only program. WindowsNT 3.1 does not run stable if you have
  134.    installed a mouse driver but have not connected a mouse to your
  135.    computer.
  136.  
  137. 3) Run disk manager from administative tools group only in standard VGA
  138.    640*480 16 colours mode. Your system may hang if you have installed
  139.    BigWinNT 2.01.
  140.

  145. These steps are reasonable if BigWinNT does not install complete or
  146. V7SetNT does not function correctly.
  147.  
  148. - Start WindowsNT and login as adminstrator.
  149.  
  150. - Be sure that standard VGA driver is running and not BigWinNT.
  151.  
  152. - Call program managers menu File-New-Program Item-OK-Browse
  153.  
  154. - Select in directory \WINNT\SYSTEM32 the file REGEDT32.EXE
  155.   and confirm with OK-button. A new greenish program icon appears in
  156.   the current active program managers group.
  157.  
  158. - Run REGEDT32 by double clicking the new icon with your mouse.
  159.   
  160. - The programs window appears with a menu and four new smaller windows
  161.   inside. Select the window with the title 
  162.   "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on local machine" by clicking the title bar with
  163.   the mouse.
  164.  
  165. - Within the left side of the split window you can see a directory
  166.   structure.
  167.  
  168. - Change to directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SPEA.
  169.  
  170. - Press the Del-key and confirm with YES.
  171.   Through it you delete that path from the registry.
  172.  
  173. - Change to directory 
  174.   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bignts3.
  175.  
  176. - Press the Del-key and confirm with YES.
  177.   This deletes that path from the registry.
  178.  
  179. - Leave the registry program through its menu item File-Exit.
  180.  
  181. - Run the file manager from main program manager group.
  182.  
  183. - Change to directory \WINNT.
  184.  
  185. - Delete the three files V7SETNT.EXE, V7SETNT.HLP and V7SETNT.TCO.
  186.  
  187. - Change to directory \WINNT\SYSTEM32.
  188.  
  189. - Delete the file BIGNTS3.DLL.
  190.  
  191. - Change to directory \WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS.
  192.  
  193. - Delete the file BIGNTS3.SYS.
  194.  
  195. - If you have selected "Large Fonts" in an earlier WindowsNT session
  196.   and you have difficulties to install V7SetNT, you get an error
  197.   message: Cannot create ...\8514fix.fon, then rerun REGEDT32 and change to
  198.   directory: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Micorsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  199.   and there change to directory GRE_Initialize.
  200.  
  201.   - In the right side of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-window you can see three
  202.     lines with "InitString:REG_SZ:filename.ext".
  203.  
  204.   - Double click each line with your mouse. A string editor comes up.
  205.  
  206.   - Substitute all three 8514*.fon file names through vga.fon.
  207.  
  208.   - Leave the registry program through its menu item File-Exit.
  209.  
  210.   In that case it is neccessary to restart your WindowsNT system to
  211.   release the 8514 font files for the following installation of
  212.   BigWinNT/V7SetNT (some font file will be copied to the disk).
  213.  
  214. - Delete the program group SPEA/V7 (common) by pressing the Del-key twice.
